Laura Vernel brings warmth, organisation, and a naturally caring presence to HOME. As Personal Assistant to Eddie Spry, she plays an important role in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, while also being one of the first people to put her hand up whenever someone in the wider team needs support.

A proud local, Laura can barely remember a time when she was not based in Christchurch’s coastal suburbs. After moving from Mount Pleasant to the Redcliffs flat, she and her husband Rich have raised their family in the community they proudly call HOME. With strong local ties, familiar faces all around, and school pick-ups often doubling as a chance to catch up with friends, Laura is deeply connected to the people and lifestyle that make Redcliffs so special.

Known affectionately as the honest “camp mother” of the HOME office, Laura is nothing but lovely — calm, capable, approachable, and always willing to help. Her background in retail manufacturing and administration has given her a sharp eye for detail, strong organisation, and a steady confidence that make her an invaluable part of Team Spry.

Whether she is supporting Eddie, helping clients, keeping the office on track, or quietly making sure the little things are taken care of, Laura brings genuine care to everything she does. Her composed nature and focus on service help create a smooth, reassuring experience for both the team and the people HOME works with.

Outside of work, Laura is family-focused through and through. She loves spending time with Rich and is incredibly proud of their two girls, Cian and Neve. Family, friendship, and community sit at the heart of her life, and she is happiest when surrounded by the people she cares about most.

Laura can often be found walking the Port Hills tracks with friends, enjoying the fresh air, good conversation, and the promise of a well-deserved treat at the end.
